Hello, my name is Ed and I am a math tutor. I received my Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Northwestern University and I previously worked in the automotive industry as a senior engineering specialist for 28 years. In my spare time, I worked with elementary through high school students coaching FIRST Robotics in my kids? school district for 8 years. After taking an early retirement and moving to the Bay Area, I decided to continue doing what I love: working with students.

Ed was Very helpful. He explained the functions and also gave suggestions on other formulas that I would benefit from. I would not hesitate to reach out to him again.

After 17 lessons that my son (a sophomore in a very competitive high school) has had with Ed, I can say with confidence that Ed is a fantastic tutor, that WILL make a difference in your child's understanding of complex math problems, greatly reducing his/her stress levels, as he is not only a knowledgeable, patient and effective tutor, but he is also a resourceful and caring teacher. Ed is able to assess where the gaps and weaknesses are, and he will suggest a strategy to remedy those problem areas. He is always well prepared for the session, and brings his own materials with relevant exercises for practice. I also appreciate Ed's written summaries at the end of each session, so parents are informed about the progress. I really like Ed's proactivity and it is evident that his student's success is a top priority. In a couple of occasions Ed call me to discuss specific issues that my son was having, and proposed to increase the number of sessions per week to cover the gaps of fundamental concepts. Once they were done with the review material, Ed suggested to go back to once per week. As a result, Ed has earned my trust and immense gratitude. Thanks to him my son feels confident, worry and stress free before exams and quizzes, and he is keeping an excellent grade in the class - all of which is priceless to me. I couldn't recommend Ed more highly. We will continue to use his services as long as needed, knowing our son in great hands.
- Marisol B. from Palo Alto, CA
In this lesson, I finished learning limits and started a chapter on derivatives. I had some sloppy mistakes and Ed was patient and helped me realize what I would be doing wrong.
- Brian U. from San Mateo, CA
Ed Explained things very clearly and even offered a better design to my solution. I highly recommend him for Macros & VBA. He troubleshooted the errors and explained in detail why it was not working.
- Joseph R. from Redford, MI
Prior to the first lesson, Ed requested information on my son's maths curriculum and textbook. From this I knew that my son would get the help he needed from the right person. The structure that Ed has provided from the very first tutoring session has been a godsend, and my son really enjoys his sessions with Ed, who continues to challenge him each session to ensure he fully understands the concepts he needs to know going forward.
- Gail M. from Burlingame, CA
I've worked with Ed on a number of projects to analyze data. I appreciate his attention to detail and the quality of the finished work product to provide relevant insights.
- Peter H. from San Carlos, CA
My son's grade has gone up since working with Ed. He's great at explaining algebra 2 and trig in was that have really helped my son. He's exactly what my son needed to get through this class.

Ed is a well-prepared and thorough teacher who commits himself to the individual math needs and learning styles of each of my children. He comes prepared with a computer and large monitor to walk the children through a curriculum and learning tools that are on-line. My children have been very happy with their sessions with Ed.
- Teru C. from Palo Alto, CA
We had originally scheduled for one hour, but there was so much to learn that we ended up going to almost 3 hours. I'm excited to reschedule our next lesson, so that I can learn more from Ed.
