Cons: TAs: its a toss up
He will explain the problems if you email him about homework questions.
He follows the syllabus entirely.
He is very knowledgable about the material.
Cons: He spent too much time reassuring us not to worry about our first exam, but did not do anything to help us with it at the end.
He promised to look at individual grades rather than looking at entire class grades, but he didn't.
He is too smart to teach calc.
If you are confident about your calc, you have learned it before, take Levy. If you are taking the class to learn calculus, don't take him.
Smart professor
Cons: Exams are difficult
Hard class but is flexible with grades
Cons: he explains the very basic in class and does the very basic problems so u think u get the materiel, but his exams contains the hardest problems
Cons: Hard tests, lots of homework, and lots of quizzes. Attendance, while not being graded, is mandatory due to the amount of homework and quizzes in discussion.
If you have to take calculus, which is a difficult course, Dr. Levy is a great option. His grading scheme is fairly flexible, but he is in no way easy. This course is pretty much a weader course at Maryland, and due to the large class numbers, getting individual help from TAs or the professor is virtually impossible.
Cons: 1st test is definitely that hardest. You may think that you know the information, but make sure you actually study.
He is a really nice teacher and I would definitely recommend him to anyone!!
Cons: Not allowed to use calculators on his exams but he always seems to want to give problems with the constant e
Cons: none
Cons: For a lecture that is 1 hour and 15 minutes, I find that Levy can be very slow and boring sometimes...
The two discussions per week help as one is simply for general calculus help, where the other discussion is for a biology related worksheet homework you must do every week. Each will help you understand the concept (better than lecture in my opinion)
Cons: i dont see anything wrong with him.
he's epic take him!
Cons: tests are hard
Cons: Moves quickly over material; exams are difficult and doesn't drop any grades
Overall a really good teacher
Cons: not always clear when explaining topics
